Beware of Facebook fraudsters! DSS arrests fake 'Accountant General of Nigeria'

The Department of State Security Services (DSS) has arrested one Izuagie Mohamed for allegedly impersonating the Accountant-General of the Federation, Mr. Idris Ahmed on Facebook.
Mohammed was arrested in Benin City, Edo State, after allegedly defrauding some unwary members of the public, by promising to help them facilitate access to the Central Bank Empowerment Loans, among other alleged dubious claims.
According to a statement by Ifeanyi Okereke, Deputy Director, Press and Public Relations, Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF), the suspect had been using a “bogus Facebook account” where he allegedly posed as the Accountant-General of Nigeria.
The OAGF had earlier noticed and reported to the Department of State Services (DSS), that “some unscrupulous elements” have created social media accounts and parading themselves in the platforms as the Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF).
In a warning issued to the general public, the OAGF says, “the general public is hereby notified that the Accountant-General of the Federation, Mr. Ahmed Idris, as a thorough-breed professional, does not transact businesses on Facebook or any other social media platform nor facilitates access to loans for anyone.”
The office hereby advises the general public to be wary of the activities of fraudsters, as they go about their businesses, especially, while using the social media.
