Maker: How to identify the new Galaxy Note7

Samsung Electronics, maker of Galaxy Note Smartphone Series, has stated the features customers should look out for when buying the new Galaxy Note7, to prevent them from buying the affected one.

The company had earlier stopped the sale of the Galaxy Note7 and commenced a global replacement exercise for customers who already own the device, having identified an issue with the battery cell.

Samsung says it has introduced a green battery icon that has been included in three specific software changes to help users differentiate between the new Galaxy Note7 and the previous one, adding that the color of the battery icons of the new Galaxy Note7 will be changed to green after Software update.

The new green battery icon will be visible on the Status Bar, the Always on Display screen and the Power Off prompt screen, which can be accessed by long-pressing the power key, Samsung further says, adding that users can easily check if they are using the new Galaxy Note7 by looking for a square symbol on the label of the packaging box.

Samsung says customers who have Galaxy Note7 devices can replace their current device with a new one by contacting their place of purchase or calling their local designated call center as soon as possible. “We are asking users to power down their Galaxy Note7s and exchange them as soon as possible,” says DJ Koh, President of Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics, adding that the exchange exercise will be as convenient as possible.
